Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the United Black Association for Development (UBAD). The meeting which established UBAD took place at a farm owned by the late Wilhelm Arnold at Mile 26 on the Old Northern Highway.

The Museum of Belize was inaugurated in 2002 and turned 10 this past Sunday, February 5.  Krem's 22nd Annual New Year's Day Cycling Classic kicked off this morning at 9 at the Belize-Mexico Border in Santa Elena, Corozal and if anything can describe this year's race, it is the fulfillment of expectations: Expectations that it be different from last year when the winner was basically decided not too long into the race and a foreigner, Costa Rican Marco Salas took away the crown.

 The Belize Rural High School from Double Head Cabbage has much to be proud of. The Belize Under 17 female softball team, which went to Panama to compete in the 3rd Central American and Caribbean Scholar Games, was made up of students from their school, with the addition of 5 students from other schools. And the girls distinguished themselves by bringing home silver medals from the competition.

 Before a packed house today at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts—so packed, in fact, that during his speech, Minister of Education Patrick Faber was forced to apologize to disgruntled parents who were unable to get a view of their sons and daughters on stage—some 991 top performers in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and 16 in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) were recognized for their performance in exams sat in May and June.
